Responsible for managing and coordinating the company’s import and export operations, ensuring smooth execution of international trade activities in compliance with applicable customs, banking, LC, and regulatory requirements. The role involves coordinating with suppliers, customers, banks, C&F agents, freight forwarders, customs authorities, and internal teams to ensure timely documentation, shipment, clearance, and delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all necessary import documents, such as invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and import licenses, are prepared accurately and submitted on time.
- Communicate with international suppliers and vendors to coordinate shipments, resolve issues, and negotiate terms of trade.
- Identify the cost-saving opportunities, optimizing shipping routes, and negotiating freight rates to reduce import-related expenses.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, finance, and production to ensure smooth import operations and meet the company`s objectives.
- Maintain accurate records of all import transactions, expenses, and documentation for future references like auditing and reporting purposes.
- Address any issues or challenges that may arise during the importation process, such as customs delays, damaged goods, or supply chain disruptions.
- Analyze import-related costs and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
- Maintain Liaison and build up a satisfactory relationship with Customs/ Port Customs & Government authority for smooth import operation.
- Maintain co-ordination with Freight Forwarder/ shipping or CNF agents for shipment of goods on schedule time.
- Prepare monthly MIS report related to L/Cs, pending purchase requirements, documents and payments for onward submission to the Head of Department.
